The Premier Lifestyle Magazine of Florida's Black Communities

Sight & Sound_01

Rise Magazine is constantly searching and exploring the entertainment world! Seeking new venues and talent, previewing and reviewing the latest movies and then, we deliver our findings (good, bad and fugly)! Since new music drops on Tuesdays and new movies hit the screens on Fridays, that’s two great reasons to check in and stay up-to-date!

As promised on the frontpage, we’ve compiled the Top 25 Black movies (in our humble opinion!) The choices were made based on a few key factors:

  • the movie had to be about the black experience;
  • and/or a movie that is written, produced and/or directed by black people;
  • and/or it has to be a movie with a black person in the lead role.
Of course, this list doesn’t really focus on the financial aspect of the movies listed. Some of them go back to a time when box offices records either weren’t kept or were lost! With that in mind, please feel free to send us YOUR suggestions of what should’ve made the list or your comments about what we’ve chosen! CLICK HERE TO COMMENT
