The Premier Lifestyle Magazine of Florida's Black Communities
Second Chance-Last Opportunity will be hosting its Semi-Annual Women of Wisdom Awards Ceremony in the Community Room of the Sarasota Herald Tribune Building tomorrow!
These illustrious ladies will be honored for their vision, dedication, and selfless endeavors to better our community.
Author Debora Livingston will be the keynote speaker. CEO April Glasco explains the dual purpose of the event:
“SCLO started the semi-annual Women of Wisdom Awards Evenings to shine a light on Sarasota’s unsung heroines whose hard work, strength and grace have a huge, yet in most cases, unidentified impact on the community. The women chosen to be honored exemplify the goals of the SCLO SISTA Project, an education and empowering program – as strong, safe survivors. It made sense, therefore, to involve our SISTA participants in putting together the Awards Evening and this time we’ll be including a graduation ceremony for the young girls who have recently completed the program. This involvement reinforces the importance for the graduates to have strong, selfless role models. It also gives the SCLO participants a project they can take ownership of, giving them the satisfaction of following something worthwhile through to completion. And for everyone involved, celebrating the selfless accomplishments of those who make our community a better place empowers us all.”
The public is encouraged to join us in this double celebration.
Location: Sarasota Herald Tribune Bldg – Community Room
